Bio

Magana is a unique and highly skilled performer – she has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (Drama) and a master’s degree in performance studies, both from New York University’s (NYU) Tisch School of The Arts.

Magana’s acting journey began at the age of 6 in Nairobi, Kenya. From the outset, Magana’s talent was evident as she effortlessly commanded the stage, earning her multiple lead roles in school plays and musicals. This early experience ignited her passion for acting, and coupled with her undeniable singing talent, she was able to solidify her reputation as a rising star in the local theatre scene and set on a trajectory towards a career in the performing arts.

As she progressed through her education, Magana's dedication to her craft remained unwavering. This led to her receiving a Kennedy Centre Cappies Gala nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as The Witch in the Madeira School’s production of Into the Woods. Her innate ability to fully immerse herself into any character and access a wide range of complex emotions is one of the standout qualities that makes Magana so captivating to watch.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of her dreams, after high school, Magana made the bold decision to move to New York City to pursue higher education and expand her artistic horizons. Enrolling at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she embarked on a rigorous academic and creative journey, immersing herself in the vibrant cultural landscape of the city that never sleeps.

Magana received technical training in acting for both stage and film. She also delved into various aspects of theatre production, studying playwriting, directing, design, and voice-over work. Her five years in New York City provided a fertile ground for honing her skills and exploring her artistic identity. Moreover, it provided her with the opportunity shortly after graduating, to play the lead role in two TV show pilots in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Magana's path from Nairobi to New York to Hollywood, and now to Cape Town, is a testament to her resilience, determination, curiosity, and unwavering passion for the performing arts. With each step she takes, she continues to carve out her place in the world of entertainment, leaving an indelible mark on every stage and screen she graces.
