After graduating from City Varsity Multimedia School, Carmen landed a role in David Kramer and Taliep Petersen’s District Six, the Musical. She continued to work with David and Taliep in Ghoema, which toured South Africa, London and the Netherlands. Carmen performed in Songbook, the musical tribute to the late Taliep Petersen, thereafter as a stilt-walker singer for Madame Zingara. She was a member of The Supremes – a Motown-like singing group, The Stepsisters and had roles in various children’s theatre productions with Lilliput Players. Carmen performed in District Six Kanala, a musical tribute at the Fugard Theatre. Carmen was the Fairy and Narrator of The Story of the Moon for the Fantastic Grifizzi Brother’s Animal Free Circus. In 2018 Carmen played the role of Ivy Biggs in the musical Satin to Sequins directed by Alistair Izobell. After playing Soraya Samsodien in Aunty Merle, The Musical, Carmen then played Moira in Aunty Merle – Things Get Real, both directed by Lara Foot. Carmen can be heard as the voice of Gulserun in the TV series Gebroke Harte.

Carmen played the lead role in Die Sentrum for SABC 2, the character of Natalie Burger in Arendsvlei, Lucretia in 7de Laan and Bonita Fortune in Skemerdans on Showmax. She has played Maggie Jantjies in Lui Maar op Belinda, Katie in Klip Anker Baai, Smee in Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyers Peter Pan and Canal Walk and toured with SBA with a short play Ballroom Boy written by Christo Davids. She is currently playing the role of Hazel in Skemergrond.
