Callum Hitchcock is an award-winning comedian known for his sharp wit, self-aware humour, and ability to find absurdity in everything. After winning the 2024 Savanna Newcomer of the Year Award, he’s been billed as a rising star in the South African comedy scene, having performed on stages nationwide with his offbeat perspective and thought-provoking punchlines.
Callum has featured on Comedy Central’s Savanna Comedy Bar, been a regular on the Comedy Report segment of eTV’s The Last Word with Shahan Ramkissoon and is a regular player on the SAFTA-winning web-series Politically Aweh.
His momentum has continued into 2025 with nominations for Breakthrough Act of the Year at the Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards, a finals appearance in the Jive Funny Championship, and a debut solo show called Almost Sx Jokes*, which he took to the National Arts Festival after a strong Cape Town run.
In collaboration with fellow award-winning comedian Yaaseen Barnes, he also launched Better Late, a live late-night talk show that became the unofficial magazine show of both the National Arts Festival and The Open Book Festival, featuring bumper guests like Dan Corder and Céline Tshika.
Beyond stand-up, he’s a sought-after comedy writer, MC, actor, and general attention-seeker across multiple mediums.
