Dalin Oliver is a multi-award winning South African comedian as well as a multi-award nominated radio sports broadcaster and podcaster. The Cape Town based former teacher turned laughter specialist boasts a clean cut, energetic and charming brand of comedy. His style and material has been described as easily accessible & relatable to people from all walks of life, having performed in 9 countries and 20 cities outside of South Africa.
2024 Kicked off with a bang. Oliver made his debut at Fringe World in Perth, one of the world’s biggest Fringe Festivals, where his one man show, 90 Day Comedian, won a weekly award for Best Comedy. Upon returning home, he was blown away with the news that he received three Comics Choice Comedy Awards nominations for best solo show, sauce of the year and uplifting comedic content.
These accolades were awarded on the back end of his 5-city tour of Australia where he delivered gags tight enough to get past border control in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast & Brisbane. He left the Ausie locals begging for more and managed a total of 91 performances during his 8-week tour Down Under.
Returning home was a dream, taking the stage at Laugh Africa, the continents biggest comedy festival, as well as being awarded another accolade for 90 Day Comedian, a Bronze Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival. It was then time for The Mail and Guardian’s 200 young South Africans winner to pack his bags and extend his comedy footprint yet again. This time, with his biggest international tour to date, a successful 6 country and 13 city tour of 90 Day Comedian across England, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and France.
His finest work has been enjoyed on Showmax, DSTv, Comedy Central Africa and in cinemas nationwide. Other career highlights include five one man shows, two filmed stand-up comedy specials, performances at the prestigious Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival as well as in Toronto Canada with the award-winning Ensemble show; Day Zero: The Water Shortage Comedy Tour.
With more than 10 years in stand-up comedy and sports broadcasting, Oliver has managed to merge the two worlds extremely well. He got the nod to host his own sports show; The Late Late Tackle with Dalin Oliver. It’s the newest talk show on the block with four-time Rugby World Cup Champions, the Springboks. The first season was a limited edition six-part series which aired on MTN’s BokSquad, the official home of the fans, prior to the team departing for the world cup in France 2023. He’s now host of the Late Late Tackle Podcast with focus placed on former and current Springboks.
For close to a decade, Dalin was a staple part of Cape Town’s daily morning breakfast routine as the Sports Presenter on Good Hope FM’s Breakfast show, where his colourful delivery and on-air comedic flair earned him multiple SA Radio Awards sports presenter of the year nominations as well as a best breakfast show nomination. He also forms one half of NonTravelling Reserves, a sports podcast balanced with facts, comedy, and banter between friends, which was recognized at the 2023 DSTV Content Creator Awards with a Podcast of the Year nomination.
When the dynamic performer is not on stage or on-air, rocking the mic at live sports events is at the top his list. Dalin is a real crowd pleaser and generator of gees and good times, after working at numerous Cricket South Africa events, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, ICC men’s u19 Cricket World Cup, Netball World Cup, SA20 and with the MI Cape Town, DHL Stormers and Springboks family.
