Bio

Céline Tshika is a multi-talented comedian, screenwriter, actress, and content creator based in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in the DRC and raised in Johannesburg, she brings a distinct pan-African and global perspective to her work.

After earning an Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town, Céline pursued her passion for the performing arts by studying Acting for Film in Los Angeles. During this time, she created the award-winning web series Jess Goes West, marking her early entry into screenwriting and digital storytelling.

Since returning to South Africa, she has made a name for herself as a sharp and versatile comedic voice. Her satirical sketches, including Stank Like a Man and the acclaimed mockumentary The Wapidemic, received critical praise for their originality and insight. In 2021, she transitioned to live comedy, becoming a finalist in the 2023 Jive Funny Championship and performing at the 2024 Savanna Comic’s Choice Newcomer Showcase.

In 2024, Céline expanded into musical comedy, producing a series of viral sketch videos that garnered over 23 million views across five releases. Her distinct blend of satire, music, and storytelling earned her the 2025 Savanna Comics Choice Award for Innovative Comedy Performance.

Her solo show Bad African debuted at the 2025 National Arts Festival and received a Standard Bank Ovation Award. Known for creating high-quality, engaging digital content, Céline continues to develop work that resonates both on stage and online, with a strong focus on identity, culture, and humor. Fully embracing her roots as a musical theatre kid, she continues to captivate audiences with her unique blend of talent in satire, music, and storytelling. She has no plans to return to Engineering, but thank you for asking.
