Actor's Bio

Mehboob is a seasoned actor, writer, producer, MC, Radio and TV presenter, as well as a voice artiste and inspirational speaker with more than 34 years’ experience in the entertainment and broadcasting industry. He has voiced a number of radio and tv commercials, as well as narrating an audio book and corporate films. The clients include, Shoprite / Checkers, Spar Halaal Stores, Emergivac, Discovery Insure, Islamic Relief, Albaraka Bank and Market Toyota. On radio Mehboob has presented in English and Afrikaans for Voice of the Cape, KFM, Smile, Magic, retail and online radio platforms as well. His Love Doctor brand and Love Songs shows are very popular. His TV forays as a presenter include bilingual presentation on Topsport, Video C and Good Morning South Africa. Some of the highlights in his career include acting in award winning commercials and films. He has played Ahmed Kathrada in Goodbye Bafana and has had the opportunity of working with an Oscar winning director and meeting many personalities from the world of film and music. He and his wife Razia produced their first feature film, Bhai's Cafe, under the banner of Razia Bawa Productions, in which he plays the title role of Magan Bhai Patel. The film was released theatrically on Valentine’s Day 2020. Recently he was seen on the big screen as Aubrey in the feature film Lucky Fish, which is now screening on Amazon Prime. In 2025 he was cast as a lead in the international short film, The Flood. Equally adept in Afrikaans he played an important role in the TV series, Die Sentrum, which was screened on SABC 2. Another accolade has been his casting in a prestigious Afrikaans TV series produced in 2025 to be screened on KYKNet and Showmax. He was chosen to narrate the audio book Joining the Dots: The Pravin Gordhan Story.

Mehboob is a versatile voice artiste and can do several accents and styles of presentation.

Corporate Bio

Mehboob Bawa been MC'ing and compering events since 1988. Many of the events have been local and international live Bollywood music concerts. Some of the artistes whose shows he hosted include leading singers in the Bollywood music industry. Most of the concerts were held at the Good Hope Centre and Cape Town International Convention Centre with thousands of audience members. Aside from welcoming the audience, setting the scene for the concert, and introducing the artistes, he would entertain with humour as well.

While Mehboob is adept at presenting to large audiences, he is quite at home with smaller groups at corporate events, and the relationship developed with these clients have led him to MC their family events like weddings and anniversaries as well.

Some of the companies for whom he has compered events for include SPAR, Spice Mecca, Toyota, Gatti's Ice Cream, Busy Corner Meat Hyper, Muslim Views Newspaper, Travel Unlimited, Goldbray’s, Quality Beverages (manufacturers of Jive cooldrinks).

The British events company, Prescon International, appointed him as the MC for a conference that hosted leading international delegates in the cement industry.

He also MC'd the launch of the book, The World at Your Feet, for a motivational speaker, at the Centre of the Book which led to further MC work for him.

When the members of the Film Producers Guild of India visited Cape Town, Mehboob was requested to MC the welcome party hosted by the Cape Film Commission.

More recently, he was confirmed to MC the launch of a cycle tour and an International Islamic Finance Conference held in Cape Town.

As a radio presenter for various stations including The Voice of the Cape, P4 Radio (now Heart 104.9FM), 94.5 Kfm, Smile 90.4FM and others, he has been called on to MC various station related events with major corporate sponsors.

Beyond his MC duties, Mehboob will guide clients regarding their proposed programme and will outline the best way in which to achieve their goal.
