CHRISTIE VAN NIEKERK: WRITER, DIRECTOR, COMEDIAN, ACTOR, CLOWN

Christie is a theatre maker and comedian who obtained her BA(Hons) in Drama and Theatre Studies from Stellenbosch University in 2022. She is one half of the comedic duo behind the

award-winning productions A Fool For You, which most recently scooped a BRONZE Standard Bank Ovation Award at the 2025 National Arts Festival; and BESTE VAN ALLE TYE, which most

recently was nominated for best comedy play at KKNK 2025.

In 2024, she played the role of Carly in Andi Colombo’s 32 Lavender Close, which also won a BRONZE Standard Bank Ovation Award at that year’s National Arts Festival. That same year, she

advanced to the elimination rounds of the Jive Funny Championship, and was later included in the Top 20 Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards Newcomer Showcase (2025). Most recently her onewoman

comedy special, Add my op die Group, has been on multiple stages in 2024 and 2025 including Woordfees 2024. She is also to be starred in an upcoming KykNet series in 2026.

She is also the writer of the popular children’s theatre productions Kosblik (2023 and KKNK 2024 nominee for best Children’s theatre production) and Sokkieverse (2024) and The Pencil case

(2025), which all advanced to the national finals of the ATKV Children’s Theatre competition.
