Actress Kim Engelbrecht is one of Cape Town's most successful talents.
For more than two decades, Kim Engelbrecht charmed South African audiences as Isidingo's gutsy reporter Lolly De Klerk. Ever since leaving the Deep for new horizons, she has had the opportunity to make her mark in local and international TV and film.
This South African -born actress landed her first role at the tender age of twelve in the Italian motion picture: Sarahsara. “After doing my first movie life went back to normal. My passion found me again when I finished school,” explains Engelbrecht
Kim landed numerous roles showcasing her versatility and ability to transform into various characters, a lawyer on The Wild, an insecure lover in the film, Bunny Chow which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival, and a seductive Spanish agent in the fourth season of British crime series Mad Dogs. She also formed part of the lead ensemble as Nancy in Tim Greene's A Boy Called Twist, a South African interpretation of Charles Dickens's classic Oliver Twist, and Thereafter, she featured in Revel Fox's film The Flyer.
The momentum didn't stop there. In 2007, she further challenged herself by playing a psycho killer in the Johannesburg production of Ben Elton's popular-culture satire, Popcorn, directed by the UK's David Bownes. Her portrayal was so intuitive that she received a Naledi Theatre Awards nomination for best newcomer. Kim spread her thespian wings even further and played the lead in the Afrikaans play Kroes. In 2010, Kim had a glorious year: not only did she receive a South African Film and Television Award for the best-supporting actress, for her portrayal of Lolly in Isidingo, but she also joined the ensemble cast in Janice Honeyman's festive-season pantomime, Robinson Crusoe.
Just in case her lengthy character list wasn’t impressive enough, the former soap star can now also list ‘Viral Sensation’ on her already remarkable résumé thanks to her Schwarzkopf commercial alongside Top Travel presenter Janez Vermeiren reaching nearly 20 million hits on YouTube.

But International waters were beckoning for Engelbrecht in 2014 and 2015 Kim Engelbrecht had a recurring role on the American cable network, SyFy’s Dominion for two seasons. Kim played the role of Sgt. Noma Banks – a soldier who turns out to be a higher angel tasked with the job to protect the one.
Balancing her passion for acting with compassion for others, Kim was a Nelson Mandela Foundation / 46664 ambassador, sat on the LoveLife board, and played a major role in the Khomanani NGO.
The film Eye in the Sky which was released in the first half of 2016; sees Kim play a role next to Alan Rickman and Helen Mirren. The film is directed by Gavin Hood with the screenplay by Guy Hibbert.
The following year Kim got cast in CW's The Flash as the Mechanic. She played Marlize Devoe a highly intelligent Super Villain in season 4.
The year 2020 saw Kim playing the Title character Reyka Gama in Reyka opposite Legendary Scottish actor Iain Glen, a story about a criminal profiler on the hunt for a serial killer in the Cane fields of Kwazulu Natal South Africa.
REYKA which premiered at the Monte Carlo Film festival to rave reviews has been sold in 147 territories which include South Africa (MNet), UK ( Channel 4, US (BritBox), Canada (CBS), and Australia (SBS) to name a few.
Kim followed up that performance and returned to the world of Science Fiction in the second season of Ridley Scott's HBOMax series RAISED BY WOLVES. Playing Decima Quantum Gravity Engineer looking to be spiritually saved.
Reyka won 4 SAFTA awards at the 16th annual South Africa Film and Tv Awards 2022.
