Danny Ross is a South African actor and voice artist best known for placing third in the SABC1 reality competition for actors called Class Act, in 2010.
His first starring role was Jason Prince, an abalone poacher who saves Karen’s life, which precipitates an unusual bond developing between them, in the SABC2 drama series Swartwater by Quizzical Pictures.
Ross studied speech and drama at LAMDA, the South African Film Institute and was coached by Dorothy Ann Gould. He has performed in various theatre productions since 2007.
Productions include Tata ma Chance, The Princess and the Pea, Umoya Wezihlahla, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sasol Fever and Romeo and Juliet.
Highlights of his career include roles in the feature films Death Race 3 for Universal Pictures, 24 Hours To Live starring Ethan Hawke, Nommer 37 by Gambit films, Barakat by Paperjet films that was sub missioned for the 94th Annual Acadamy Awards.
Ross has also done various telenovelas including Broken Vows (ETV), Arendsvlei (kykNET) and soap operas which include the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan and the kykNET soapies Binnelanders, Villa Rosa, Suidooster where
he was nominated for a Tempo award as best male actor in a soap.
Ross can also be seen in various TV commercials both local and international with the most recent along side international actor, Gerard Butler and a 3D campaign that was released in New York Time Square, Picadilly Circus and Paris.
He is also starring in local South African Film called Late Bloomer (Showmax) and series Desert Rose (Showmax), Spinners (showmax),Ludik (Netflix) and the new Resident Evil (Netflix).
We can expect to see him in the soon to be released films Frankie and Felipe, Niemandsdorp, Neelan and Kevin.
Danny also writes poetry and have released music which includes three songs, Laaitie van n Recce, Hey Brown Child and Donker Dag under his stage name DD Ross.
